William Hope is a Canadian stage, film, television and voice actor.

Hope along with fellow Aliens co-stars Cynthia Dale Scott, Ricco Ross and Jenette Goldstein have recently signed the online petition that was started by fans to ask for female characters to be playable in the upcoming Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Biographical information

Early life

William Hope was born in Montreal, Quebec. He joined the National Youth Theatre in London after high school and performed for three seasons with them. During that time he began training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). After graduation he worked almost uninterruptedly in theatre for the next seven years, in addition to over 100 radio plays for the BBC as a resident artist.

Film career

Most of Hope's stage work has been leading roles in a wide variety of regional, touring and West End theatres in England.

Early on, he turned down a major role in Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket for a lead role in James Cameron's Aliens as Lt. Gorman, for which he began to receive recognition. Soon after he appeared as Kyle MacRae in the horror film Hellbound: Hellraiser 2, the sequel to Clive Barker's Hellraiser.

After Hellbound, Hope went on to a number of theatrical films while working a lot on stage and in radio drama. Seen in parts in Shining Through and The Saint, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and xXx. He co-starred in two Wesley Snipes' action epics The Marksman and The Detonator and as the villain in Steven Seagal's action movie Submerged.
