The Synapse Reestablisher is a technological device developed by the scientists of the Weyland Corporation. It is used awaken dormant neurons in the brain tissue of deceased or dying patients, through precise, minute electrical innervation. This delicate technology is highly sensitive and restricted to a select group of doctors and scientists. The nine existing Reestablishers have been in use for the past two years in medical schools and biotech research centers for experimental use only, pending FDA investigation.
Doctors Elizabeth Shaw and Ford used the Synapse Reestablisher on the preserved head of an Engineer during the Prometheus' exploration on LV-223. While it succeeded at first, it backfires shortly after and causes the Engineer's head to explode.
