Semiotic Standard was a set of symbols and warning labels that were designed for use aboard all commercial trans-stellar utility lifter and heavy element transport spacecraft. Semiotic Standard was adopted for use on April 16, 2078. The system was designed to show hazards and important information about shipboard systems and areas at a glance. Colours were used to define certain aspects of the label; red was used to denote alertness and living persons, white and grey denoted life support conditions such as pressure and temperature, black was for hazards such as vacuum and anything that could result in death, yellow was for harmful active processes such as chemical or atomic hazards, blue was for lowered thermal conditions, and green was for non-human biological substances and processes.[1]
