  • [1]A Protomorph is born from a person infected with a Protohugger
  • The Protomorph (also known as the Praetomorph) was a direct creation of David on Planet 4, but likely based on the Engineer's original designs on the mural in Prometheus. Protomorpha eggs were slightly different, with a more elongated design with two petals. Facehuggers only needed a few seconds to infect a human, and the resulting chestburster was also quite different, with a darker skin tone and fully developed limbs. In its adult form, the Protomorph looked and behaved much like a regular Xenomorph type, perhaps
  • The Praetomorph, or Protomorph, owes its existence to disturbing experiments conducted by the android David 8. Using the chemical pathogen A0-3959X.91 – 15, David manipulated tissue samples of various life forms on Planet 4 (sometimes called Paradise) and the body of Dr. Elizabeth Shaw. As described in Alan Dean Foster's novelization of Alien: Covenant, David recreated the creature from original designs from the Engineers that he found on the planet, and the Protomorph was not David's original creation. However, this opinion is not fully supported by the director Ridley Scott, who thinks that David is the sole creator and "father" of the Xenomorphs. Regardless, decades of unnatural experimentation led David to create the first praetomorph eggs.
  • The life cycle of the Praetomorph begins with the Ovomorph, a distinctively shaped egg that harbors the Praeto-Facehugger. Unlike traditional xenomorph eggs, these Ovomorphs feature a unique design, a testament to David's experimental influence. Compared to Xenomorph eggs, Protomorph eggs have much larger petals and an onion-like shape. The eggs were kept in a damp (possibly dry heat) basement under the Engineer structure and David bioengineered at least half a dozen of them, with at least two hatching. There was no indication that an alien queen was present, and the eggs most likely grew from a much smaller size.
  • The Praetomorph is characterized by its sheer physicality and animal aggressiveness. His skin, a mixture of black and gray, covers a body marked by exposed muscles and blood vessels. The creature exhibits less intelligence than its xenomorph counterparts, but makes up for it with brute strength and durability. Being in a violent frenzy, they seek out any life form that attempts to assassinate them, only ignoring androids, which seems to be a general Xenomorph weakness. It places no emphasis on capturing potential hosts for hive expansion, even if eggs were available on planet 4.
