Paris (i/ˈpærɪs/; French: [paʁi]) is the capital and most popolous city of France. It is situated on the river Seine, in northern France, at the heart of the Île-de-France region (or Paris Region, French: Région parisienne). Paris' landmarks included the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe.
Approximately 200 years after 2179, an unknown disaster occured on Earth, causing it to become an arid wasteland. The disaster left Paris as a largely deserted and destroyed wasteland. Ripley 8 and the surviving Betty crew members landed in Paris, shortly after surviving the Xenomorph infestation that occured aboard the USM Auriga.
