Captain Jeremy Cruz is part of the military branch USCM (United States Colonial Marines) who are part of a search and rescue team sent to the Zeta II Reticuli system aboard the USS Sephora to investigate the USS Sulaco in search of Ellen Ripley, Corporal Dwayne Hicks, and the rest of the missing marines dispatched to LV-426 19 weeks earlier.

Early life[]
Cruz was born in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was soon recruited by the USCM and earned top honors at the officers candidate school. Cruz proved himself qualified for advance hostile environments while training at Camp Hanneken, Valles Marineris and Mars. In 2172, Under the orders of the I.C.C., he was dispatched to Marine Space Force, Sol. Cruz possesses a strong combat leadership, giving a high battle success ratio. Though he becomes tempermental under pressure, he still manages to bring the squad back alive. At some point in his life, Cruz lost his right leg and replaced it with a prosthetic leg.

- A marine's name in Aliens: Infestation named Frank Heston, nicknamed "Bonesaw," was a weapons expert. He recieve the name Bonesaw when he used his smartgun to blow off a marine's leg after an APC was flipped over due to a magmine and later carried him out of the ambush. The marine might be based on Cruz's character because of his prosthetic leg.
