The cattle prod is a handheld device commonly used to make cattle or other livestock move by striking or poking them, also using a relatively high-voltage, low current electric shock. Brett assembled and improvised several cattle prods to be used as weapons for the Nostromo's crew member to capture the alien creature that had violently merged out of Kane. Lambert later used a cattle prod to subdue Ash after he was revealed to be an android.
