The CM-88B Bison Juggernaut M-Class Starfreighter was a model of starship manufactured by Lock-Mart Industries. The CM-88B was a variant configuration of the base CM-88 series Bison produced by Lock-Mart Industries. The USCSS Nostromo was a modified CM-88B Bison Juggernaut M-Class Starfreighter.
Description[]
Like all CM-88s, the CM-88B's spaceframe consisted of three pressurized decks designed from A to C. It was laid out in a 6-10-4 configuration with interconnecting corridors, laddershafts, ducts, and four large main cargo holds. The rest of the ship's volume was given over to the fuel tanks for the fusion reactor and reaction mass for the thrust engines.[1]
The inflight systems of CM-88Bs were controlled by a central MU/TH/UR 6000 processor, which was a 2.1 terabyte intelligent mainframe. The processor was responsible for monitoring all of the vessel's flight and autonomic functions. A MU/TH/UR 146 2.0 terabyte backup was installed in the event of a primary CPU failure, with an extra layer of redundancy built in that allowed autonomic functions to be sustained should the backup also fail.[1]
CM-88Bs followed standard Weyland-Yutani protocols for communications equipment, mounting 10- and 4-meter hyperstate antenna and short-range UHF/VHF/HF radio and video links. Sensor clusters on the forward hull included 2-meter aperture telescopes with optical, spectrographic, and infrared resolution; a gas chromagraph; a centimetric navigation and landing radar; a synthetic aperture ground-mapping radar, and a hyperspace mass counter for navigating a supralight speeds.[1]
CM-88Bs were fitted with four Yutani T7A NLS Stellar Drive Towers for FTL travel. The vessel was equipped with two Saturn J-3000 engines, two Weyland L46 chemical manuevering engine, a single Yutani J38 auxiliary thruster module, and two LockMart TL-30 thruster groups.[1]
History[]
Some vessels, such as the USCSS Nostromo, were refitted to operate as commercial towing vehicles. During the refit, the original Saturn J-3000 engines were replaced with Rolls-Royce N66 Cyclone thrust tunnels.[1]
