Renegade (sometimes known as "Aliens: Renegade") was a two-part comic book short story published by Dark Horse Comics in the company's self-titled anthology series Dark Horse Comics #1-2, from August-September 1992, which served as a build-up to the 12-issue maxiseries Aliens/Predator: Deadliest of the Species.
The story was written by Chris Claremont, illustrated by Vince Giarrano, colored by Gregory Wright and edited by Diana Schutz & Jerry Prosser. The issue also featured a double-gatefold cover by Dave Dorman. "Renegade" was re-released as "Aliens: Renegade" when it was featured in the UK-released Aliens Magazine, Vol. 2 #18-19 from Dec. 1993-Jan. 1994. It has not been reprinted elsewhere.
In the Aliens comics line, Renegade was followed by Aliens: Horror Show (Oct.-Dec. 1992).

Plot[]
A peaceful, distant colony world settlement is visited by mercenaries who threaten to take over the entire planet. The leader of the colony sends a woman named Ash Parnall to deal with the outsiders.
Behind the Scenes[]
There is generally some confusion as to Renegade's place as an Aliens or AVP story, since no actual Aliens, Predators, or references to either franchise appear in the actual story itself. However, the lead character of Ash Parnall is one of the main characters mentioned in the subsequent Aliens/Predator: Deadliest of the Species and appears in a number of flashbacks. The story's place in the Aliens or AVP line was further established, though, by its eventual reprinting as "Aliens: Renegade" in Aliens Magazine in the UK. As such, Aliens: Renegade becomes an ultra rare Aliens story that has never been reprinted in the United States, alongside other similarly rare UK Aliens Magazine-only comics like Aliens: Countdown, Aliens: Matrix, and the incomplete Aliens: Crusade.
