Alien: Isolation is a video game for current and previous-gen systems by British studio Creative Assembly.
Alien: Isolation is a singleplayer first-person survival horror game featuring stealth mechanics. The game takes place 15 years after the events of the movie Alien. It follows the story of Ellen Ripley's daughter, Amanda Ripley aboard the space station Sevastopol.
Plot[]
Technician Amanda Ripley is approached by Weyland-Yutani executive Christopher Samuels, who informs her that the flight recorder of the Nostromo was recently located and is being held aboard Sevastopol Station, a remote free port space station owned by the Seegson Corporation, in orbit around the gas giant KG-348. Samuels offers Amanda a place on the Weyland-Yutani team sent to retrieve it, so that she can have closure regarding the fate of her missing mother, Ellen Ripley. Ripley, Samuels, and Weyland-Yutani lawyer Nina Taylor, travel to Sevastopol onboard the courier ship Torrens, owned by Captain Diane Verlaine. The group arrive at Sevastopol to find the station damaged and communications dead. Ripley, Samuels, and Taylor attempt to spacewalk over to the station to investigate, but their EVA line is severed by debris and the three of them are separated.
Ripley manages to make her way inside the station and finds a complete breakdown of civil society: the station's crew have been reduced to small groups of frightened, paranoid looters who hoard scavenged resources and shoot non-group members on sight. She is briefly held hostage by a man named Axel, but convinces him to help her in exchange for a ride off the station aboard the Torrens. Axel explains that the current situation is due to a "monster" loose aboard the station, and soon after the Alien appears and kills him. Ripley evades it and contacts Samuels and Taylor, and discovers that Taylor has been injured, forcing Ripley to retrieve medical supplies from the station's med bay to treat her.
When Ripley reunites with Samuels and Taylor, the team is taken into custody by the station's Marshal Waits, and his deputy, Ricardo. Waits explains that the Alien was brought on board the station by Marlow, captain of the Anesidora (the ship that found the flight recorder of the Nostromo) who was arrested by Waits. Ripley speaks with Marlow and learns that the Anesidora crew discovered the derelict Engineer ship on LV-426, where Marlow's wife was impregnated by a facehugger. Marlow brought her aboard Sevastopol for treatment, and the Alien hatched from her and began to wreak havoc on board. Waits convinces Ripley to help him contain the Alien by luring it into a remote section of the station and sealing it inside. However, once the Alien is contained, Waits ejects the module from the station with Ripley still inside. She manages to find an EVA suit and space-jump back to Sevastopol, while the Alien is left behind in the jettisoned module as it falls into KG-348.
With the Alien disposed of, the situation aboard the station appears back under control until the station's android workforce abruptly starts hunting down and massacring the remaining crew, including Waits and his men, though Ricardo survives. Samuels is revealed to be a synthetic human, and attempts to interface with the station's controlling artificial intelligence, APOLLO, in order to cease the slaughter. APOLLO's defensive countermeasures deactivate Samuels, but not before he manages to open a path for Ripley into APOLLO's control chamber.
When Ripley reaches the control chamber, she discovers that Sevastopol was recently purchased by Weyland-Yutani, who instructed APOLLO to preserve the Alien regardless of any human casualties. Ripley demands to know why APOLLO is continuing to kill the crew when the Alien is no longer aboard and APOLLO directs her to the station's reactor core, where Ripley discovers an entire hive of Aliens. She overloads the reactor to destroy the hive, but multiple Aliens escape into the station.
Ripley learns from Ricardo that Taylor was sent by Weyland-Yutani to retrieve the Alien, and that she freed Marlow in exchange for the location of LV-426. However, Marlow took her hostage and fled to his ship. Ripley and Ricardo pursue them in hopes of using the Anesidora to escape the station. However, they discover Marlow is attempting to detonate the Anesidora's fusion reactor to destroy the station and ensure the Aliens do not come into contact with humanity. Taylor kills Marlow while he is arguing with Ripley, then works together with Ripley to try to prevent the reactor explosion. They are only partially successful, however, with Taylor being killed by an electrical overload and Ripley escaping just as the ship explodes. The explosion does not destroy Sevastopol, but it damages the station's gravity stabilizers, causing it to begin falling into KG-348's atmosphere.
Ripley contacts the Torrens and escapes to it just as Sevastopol is destroyed, but Ricardo is attacked by a facehugger and she is forced to leave him behind. Aboard the Torrens, Ripley abruptly loses contact with Captain Verlaine, and subsequently discovers an Alien has boarded the ship as well. The creature corners her in the ship, but Ripley is still in her EVA suit from the hop over onto the Torrens, so she opens the airlock, sending both herself and the Alien into space. The game ends with Ripley adrift in space, waking up to the light of an unidentified vessel approaching her.

Pre-order DLC[]
The first pre-order DLC for Alien: Isolation includes two missions, "Crew Expendable" and "Last Survivor" which allow players to reenact moments from the original Alien movie. Sigourney Weaver (Ripley), Tom Skerritt (Dallas), Veronica Cartwright (Lambert), Harry Dean Stanton (Brett), and Yaphet Kotto (Parker) reprised their roles for Creative Assembly’s pre-order content. John Hurt (Kane) and Ian Holm (Ash) however did not return to reprise their roles. Ash is featured in the game, but was voiced by another voice actor.
The first pre-order mission, "Crew Expendable", takes place moments after the death of Brett. It has players assuming the role of either Ripley, Dallas or Parker, as the crew of the Nostromo attempt to flush the Alien from the air vents and into the ship’s airlock. Depending on which character the player chooses, the game will have a slightly different perspective on events and will begin with different resources.
The second pre-order mission, "Last Survivor", was initially only available through select retailers depending on territory. It has since been released more widely. Set during the film’s dramatic finale, the player assumes the role of Ripley and must activate the Nostromo’s self-destruct sequence and reach the Narcissus shuttle in order to escape.
